For a person that doesn’t like the English language, I think that I learned many things in this course.  I’m of the idea that we should have this course across the career because many of my classmates don’t have the opportunity of to do this course at the same time, then we have different levels of knowledge about this language.
The use of blogs was very interesting to me. I enjoy writing and have to do for a course like this was really funny. The topics were very interesting because it was about different aspects, not only about the University. I could talk honestly about important topics such as friends and personal projects.
I need to improve my pronunciation and learn more vocabulary. I’m trying to apply the English language in different situations. For example, I read articles or other pages in internet that are write in English and try to not use dictionary or translator. Not long ago, I had to help to tourist in the street. They needed  to know how go to a shopping and I could talk whit they within problems.

When I finish my career I would like to do a master's degree in strategic communication. Usually a magister that lasts two years and would give me knowledge of internal and external communications. In my career we have a bunch of specialty, but not as deep, so I'd like to do something extra at the end. This specialty I would to access a much more comfortable than dry journalism. For example, it could be in charge of business communications, developing an internal newsletter, manage communications workers and help spreading a brand or company, work done from Monday to Friday in office hours and also has a good salary.
I'm not sure this is done immediately upon leaving, because I also like to apply for a grant for exchange and study abroad and I also thought of studying another career, as a degree in history, for example.
I think everything will depend also on my practice, I should do it this summer. I wish that was in the area of internal communications. That will be a great opportunity to see if I really like the area you intend to and if I do well is likely to offer me to stay permanently.

Friends are very important person in the life of all people. As says somewhere, “are the family you can choose”. A good friend is a person you can share your problems and it help you to find a solution or to stay quiet if you are very desperate. But a good friend also enjoys your happiness, your success. You have to looking for a person to give happiness, time and interest. The important things are you can count with this person, independently if you see your friend daily or if you only talks with he on the phone or chat.
I'm a good friend. Sometimes, too much. Should be for this that I don’t have many friends. I want to say that some people aren't the person do you think but you have to trust. I'm honest, funny and if a friend needs me I run for help him.
I like to meet people in the university, but the best friends I have I made in other situations of the life. My closest friend is Paula. I know her since 2008, when I worked in a shop. She is seven years older than me. She gives me good advices and I see her quite often. Always when I to go downtown, I pass for her house to visit her and talks long hours about life, boys or family and the projects of everyone.
I keep in touch with many friends of the school. My best friend of the school is Patricio. He is a really good friend. We don’t meet hardly ever but soon, on November, we’ll make a school reunion.

When I was a child I read many books to the school. Now, I don't have many time to read the things that really like me. I remember when I was around four years old and my mother bougth me a story collection. It was very special because the books was very big, like an atlas and come in a box. Was the stories of "Blanca Nieves", "el Hombre de Gengibre" between others.

Now I enjoy reading some books to the university, about the old history or books about the best works of journalism in Chile. I dont have an special writer but between the chilean writers I like to read Cristobal Peña and also admire the works of Vicente Huidobro and Maria Luisa Bombal.

I recently read a book of a chilean young writer. It was "Canciones punk para señoritas autodestrctivas", of Daniel Hidalgo. It took me a couple days and read it in the bus and subway. This is a book of stories that happen in Valparaíso, mixing the reality with fiction, accompanied by a soundtrack of punk songs. It trapped me because the stories talks of real problems of young people, love, poverty, the misery and punk music. Is a comparission between a punk song and the reality of the port.
I reccomend this book specially if you are young and if you love the punk music.

I wait Independence Day holidays all the year. First because are a really rest in middle of a hard term for who studies or work, where you can go to travel or simply relax and second because are many days of celebration , you can prepare typical food and taste typical drinks of the season such as “chicha” and my favorite, the “earthquake”.
All the years, we celebrate in family doing a barbecued meat and adorning the garden with garlands and flags. When my grandmother was alive she was the first in put herself peasant dress and invites to dance a “cueca”. Sometimes we go to “fondas” and my mom loves go to see the armed parade in the Parque O’Higgins, but I hate go. You can’t see anything and the park is always crowded and very dirty.
This year, my uncle Luis and my aunt Yolanda visited my home to Independence Day Holidays. My aunt brought “empanadas” made by herself. In the night I went to the Disco “Blondie” with my boyfriend but in the middle of party I began to feel very bad.

post 3:my best holiday

South of Chile should be between the Seven Wonders of the World. In the Araucanía, you feel like if you are in the paradise. Colors, people, meal, mountains, lakes, rain, wind, forest, all things of nature you can imagine in a only place to relax and enjoy.

I visited Caburgua in 2010. I travelled by bus around of ten hours, but it wasn’t a problem because de ride is very pretty and the bus stopped in many cities such as Rancagua, Chillan and Temuco, where you can down and buy somethings to the way.
I travelled with my boyfriend and we spend our holidays in a camping site near to Caburgua lake.

The first day we went to swimming in the lake and also we rent a boat. It was very funny. The second day, my boyfriend taugh me to row in kayak. The next day the weather was cold and we decided walke through the forest. We founded “copihues” tree, the national flower of Chile. It was very exciting because this flower is at risk of extinction.

post 2: I'd like to visit...Italy!

If there is a place I should visit before die, it should be Italy. This country is a real mistery to me, but I think that's a very interesting place. The few I know about this I learned in books and on cable tv. The most I want to meet is the geography, gastronomy and the architecture.

Between my proyects at the future are can travell and visit all the country for a long time, but first I have to learn to speak in italian.

Italy have a long history, related at the same time with the develop of arts. This reflected in their constructions such as the Coliseo Romano, the Basilica of San Pedro and the Basilica of San Marcos in Venecia.
Italy have a similar climate to Chile but their geography is mostly composed by mediterranean forest.

Also I like its gastronomy. On the "Gourmet" I have seen many programs where they prepare traditional dishes and I like their pasta, pizza and fish.

I'd like to go to this country to study or work. But this will be a very expensive dream.

Post 1: year of changes

This year started with many changes. Life put in my family a difficult situation. The doctors detected cancer pulmonar to my grandmother and she died on March, the same day of my birthday.  Her death make me think in my projects and if the things what I do because she was a great woman.

Return to class was very different and difficult to me, but as we had to do many works with classmates and research, my mind stayed busy and y know it helped to think in others things and don’t feel so sad.

A positive aspect was what whit mi boyfriend decided start a little business to get money. We cooking cakes and kuchen and spell it at the work of his mother. Thanks to this great idea we can went in fall holydays to Valparaíso. We visited the Museo Naval and met interesting people who were very friendly, such as Juan Oneto, a saylor that works in the museum who told us many stories and experiences of his work.

The English bloggin experience

I have others blogs but the English blog is a different experience. It was think to we can learn most and better about other language and show our abilities. To me, this is a good exercise because we can talk about many topics and talking about with my classmates. That way, we studied about the topic and, at the same time, find new words to use in our vocabulary and can express opinions and information.

I enjoy because I can learn to use the Blogspot complements and visit other blogs to read. I don’t think that was difficult, but was a real challenge because we have to write on this week to week.  The only problem was the time to write because, in my case, I don’t know many words or have a good English vocabulary. For this I had to use the help of Wordreffence.com or the Office translator, to know how to say some words.

Finally, I think that the “help” wasn’t something essential. I think that the most important is can join ideas and see that many phrases in Spanish can be writing similar.
So, the important is practice the language in different situations as a blog or the social networks to those English words stay more time in our memory.

What is life?

To me ‘the life’ is an incredible opportunity to learn all we can. This is to forget about social boundaries, prejudices and dare to do what we can only live once.

To enjoy all that is necessary for someone to accompany us on these dreams, like friends or family.

Personally, what I like about living is that we can feel so many emotions with just a few details like the smells, landscapes, nature, among other things.

There are people who are deprived of many things especially what others might think or because they feel that age they have no longer allowed taking those tastes. But I think to avoid this is very good to make a mental map of the life we want to have, the things we want to do and what we need for all this to be. Obviously nothing can be perfect but when we do our part, our energy, love and dedication, many of those dreams can be fulfilled.

In this unique experience that is life is essential to be good observers and to communicate with people we know we really want to enjoy the most of every experience.

Alejandra Matus

Alejandra Matus is a Chilean journalist. She studied in Pontificia Universidad Católica and return to Chile two years ago, after study a Master in Harvard. She has work in radio, magazine, news and digital media. Also she was manager of “Pan B” magazine.

She has wrote three books: “Crimen con castigo”, about the murder of Valentin Letelier; “El libro negro de la justicia chilena”, what was censored in Chile; and “Injusticia duradera”, about the status of the freedom expression in Chile.

She has work as teacher in different universities in Chile, United State and Europe. I Admire her work, and specially her book “el libro negro de la justicia chilena”. I had to read in the first year of my career. In this book she talks about some secrets and bad practice of the Chilean justice. Her book was published in 1999 and confiscated the same day. The minister of Corte Suprema, Servando Jordan, acused to Matus of contempt the Security State law. She decides go to exile in United States and return in 2005, when the article of contempt was remove.

I think that Alejandra is an example of ethic and professionalism, because she defended her research and fight for show the injustice and the most turbid secrets about the powerful men in Chile.

The importance of pets

A few years ago I lost my dear pet. It was a dog named “Balto”, such as the movie. He died after being hit by a car. I understood that day how important it was for me. In my house we don't had many pets.
When I was a girl, some cats came alone and stayed by chance. Over the years, they went and we never saw them more. I think that’s one of the most important characteristics of some animals, their ability to adapt, independent of anyone to care for them.
However, to the people, pets can be an important partner. For example, some blind people use trained dogs to go on. Also, in the houses the pets can give you happiness if you are good with them, if you get them to walk and play at a park. That’s what I miss most now that Balto is not here. He was playful and always slept on my feet or woke me with his little feet. Only bad thing is that you never imagine how much you can love them.

Heroes and villains, my favorite photograph...

Hi, I’m going to write about one of my favorite photograph.
The last year, when we were mobilized for the Chilean education, many students realized diverse and originals manifestations. One was a flash mob called "Ven a salvar la educación chilena", where we danced dressed and characterized as heroes and villains who wanted to save the education.

This photograph was taken the day of the presentation, on 18th July, 2011 in "Plaza de Armas". It was taken by Marcelo, a friend and ex-classmate of the high school of Yerko, my boyfriend . It shows three persons characterized as "El Acertijo", "Harley Quinn" (me) and "El Guasón" (my boyfriend).I like this photo because we prepare for weeks the presentation but, the most beauty was dress up, go in the subway and walk on the centre of Santiago and that  people could see hundreds of young student trying to change the mind of the persons to support the student's demands.

Quality of life in the city

Many people say that live in the city is better. But it's not perfect because the development of the transport, streets, buildings, among factors have to cause pollution of the city and stress in the population.
Opportunities
Live in the city mean best access to health services, education and jobs. The last is one of the causes of high migration to the cities, because you can find more vacants and variety of service. Apart from, there are many centers of training and schools where complete the basic education and high school. The connectivity of the city allow to develop a better communication between the persons.
Modern but desagreeable
In the city, many cars transit daily and the industries help to pollute the environment. Also the concentration of the popullation has been provocate unsafe cities. The cultivated land has been disappear and many people have .
